Hauntings
and strange happenings are not hard to find on the Upper Great Lakes. Join regional
story collector Dennis Boyer on a circumnavigation of Lake Michigan, Lake Huron,
and Lake Superior which explores both ancient legends and contemporary paranormal
events on the three big sisters carved out by the Ice Age. In his
latest colletion of ghostly folklore, Boyer takes readers to shipwrecks, lonely
lighthouses, deserted islands, and harbor taverns to meet the characters who preserve
the lore of these inland seas. In the process he assembles a collection of tales
that illuminate not only local brushes with the supernatural, but that also provide
a cultural relief map of the shoreline communities of these three big bodies of
water.
Called a premiere ghost hunter by Haunted Wisconsin author Michael
Norman and designated the folktale man by Wisconsin Trails magazine,
Boyer travels widely in his occupation as a representative of public employees
and as an environmental activist. He lives on a farm in southwest Wisconsin with
his family.
